|Just In| Teachers Asked to Return to Classroom

The three teacher Unions, NAGRAT, GNAT and CCT-GH on November 4, 2022 declared industrial action after the government refused to terminate the appointment of the newly appointed acting Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Eric Nkansah, a banker, as indicated in their earlier communique before their strike action on November 4.

According to these teacher unions, other issues that triggered the industrial action are Non payment of deprived school allowance, issues on distribution of teachers’ laptops, issues on promotion and other issues related to their conditions of services.

NLC has therefore directed the three teacher unions to call off the strike, direct members to return to Classrooms, begin negotiations with the stakeholders involved and then report the outcome to them (NLC).

The Three Teacher Unions are yet to release a communique to either be in support of the directive or ignore and continue their industrial action until their demands are met.
