NEWS IN: The GES’ PLC App to start Operation in these Regions starting from 30th January, 2023

The Deputy Director-General (Q&A), Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandor under the auspices of the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Eric Nkansah, in a letter referenced GES/DD-G/Q&A23/011 and dated January 23, 2023, is urging all Regional Directors of Education Concerned to officially inform Metro, Municipal, District Directors of Education and other key Regional and District Officers who were trained to ensure that all the Basic Schools use the GES PLC App to conduct the PLC sessions and submit report using the App at the end of each session.

As part of Measures to improve effective implementation of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) in Basic Schools, the management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) with technical assistance from Ghana Library Authority (GhLA) has developed a robust and an integrated application system known as “GES PLC App” to help the implementation of the PLCs in Schools and it is about to be introduced in the basic schools in the phase one Regions, starting from 30th January, 2023.

Below are the six regions to be used in the phase one;

  • Upper West Region
  • Northern Region 
  • Oti Region 
  • Bono East Region 
  • Greater Accra Region 
  • Western Region

Accordingly, Management of GES is requesting all Regional Directors of Education Concerned to officially inform Metro, Municipal, District Directors of Education and other key Regional and District Officers who were trained to ensure that all the Basic Schools use the GES PLC App to conduct the PLC sessions and submit report using the App at the end of each session.

Directors are also expected to remotely monitor the PLC Sessions, review the PLC reports submitted and provide appropriate feedback to the schools using the PLC App dashboard.
