Controller and Accountant-General's Department Responds to CLOGSAG's Pension Contribution Protest

The Controller and Accountant-General's Department has responded to the recent protest by members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) regarding the 5% deduction from their basic salary towards tier 3 pension contributions.

In a statement issued by the Department, it was reiterated that the payroll is prepared based on inputs provided by employer organizations and unions, including deductions for union dues. These inputs are only processed upon receipt of properly signed communications from legitimate authorities.

The statement clarified that the 5% tier 3 deduction for the benefit of CLOGSAG members, effective February 2023, was properly authorized and communicated by the union's leadership through a letter with reference number BA/61/SF.1 dated 2nd February 2023.

The Department therefore recommends that any concerns about the deduction should be directed to the management of CLOGSAG. The Department has also expressed its readiness to implement any resolution that may arise from this matter when properly communicated to them through the recognized authority.

The Controller and Accountant-General's Department has assured the public that it is always ready to provide its services as needed.
