Good and Bad News for these group of teachers as Payment Voucher for the month of February is ready for Validation

This news item will enlighten you on

  • Teacher Upgrading Saga
  • Fifth Batch of new teachers without Salaries
  • Promotion
  • Point increment
  • The Batch after the fifth batch of teachers without Salaries &
  • What you will need to know as a teacher.
It is sometimes pathetic how employees in the Public Sector especially teachers are treated when it comes to their staff Ids being released and biometric registrations.

Government of Ghana in February 2022 employed new staff into Ghana Education Service.

Release of Staff Ids have been a major issue for some of these teachers who were employed in February 2022.

Staff Ids for Some of them have been released and even started taking their salaries (with arrears).

Staff Ids for Others too were released and had the chance to undergo their biometric Registration processes in November which was therefore an indication that they were going to be validated and paid for the subsequent Month, December, with arrears but it will interest you to know that after their biometrics and having their names being appeared and validated on the Payment Voucher for December 2022, had nothing in their accounts when payments were made.

According the fifth (5th) batch without pay, they were paid into their accounts and later have them reversed for unknown reasons.

Some of these innocent posted teachers whose names appeared and were validated in December 2022, had their names removed from the PV when validation for January 2023 was ready.

There are some of these teachers too who have not had their Staff Ids, not to talk of biometric registration, Validation and Payments.

A bad news hitting these fifth (5th) batch without pay is that, they have once again been excluded from the February’s  payment vouchers as it is ready for validation.

As there is a saying in akan which says “obi dwan awuo no, na obi nkwan mu ayɛ hwam”.

The “good news” part of the validation for the month is that, teachers who went for biometric registration in the month of December have had their names captured on February’s Payment Voucher which means that they are going to be paid for the month of February with arrears ahead of the fifth batch of the new teachers who completed their biometric process in November.

Point increment happens once a year, some peoples have had problem with their point increment, it no longer moves but the good news for them is most of them have had their point increment moved, some of them were suppose to have their point increased last year but didn’t reflect, all these anomalies have been sorted.

Some staff were also promoted last year, 2022 and yet, have not being put to their respective salary scale, but the good news is that most of them have been placed on their rightful scales but others have still not been sorted out, hoping they sort them out in the coming months.

The Employer (Government, via GES) and stakeholders involved are therefore entreated to up in their doings to work on the point increments for due teachers, place the promoted teachers on their rightful scales,  release the remaining Staff Ids and effect payments of salaries for those who have successfully undergone their biometrics in November but cannot find their names on their various PVs not to talk of salary Payment.
