Full list of NSMQ winners from 1994 to 2025

The National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), a staple of Ghanaian education since 1994, has once again captured the nation's attention. This premier quiz competition for Senior High Schools is renowned for unearthing young scholarly talent, but it's also fiercely about one thing: claiming the ultimate bragging rights. For contestants, the dream is to win, to proudly recount the story of how they triumphed over their rivals to lift the coveted trophy.

The 2025 edition delivered another unforgettable showdown, culminating in Mfantsipim School – popularly known as BOTWE – successfully defending their national title. With this back-to-back victory, Mfantsipim has etched its name alongside PRESEC-Legon as the only schools to have won the championship consecutively.

A Look at the Record Books

While Mfantsipim celebrates its successful defence, the all-time leaderboard remains a testament to sustained excellence. PRESEC-Legon leads the pack with a record eight trophies, followed by Prempeh College with five wins. Mfantsipim's recent victories have now brought their total to three, solidifying their place among the quiz's most elite institutions.

The 2025 Final: A Rollercoaster of Brilliance

The speed round saw AUGUSCO fight back with sharp teamwork, finishing the second round ahead with 27 points. Mfantsipim followed with 24, and Opoku Ware stayed on 17. However, the momentum soon swung back to Botwe. In the critical "Problem of the Day" round, they powered through with accuracy and composure, scoring 30 points to just edge out Augusco’s 29, while OWASS struggled with 19 points.

By the fourth round, the atmosphere was electric. Mfantsipim widened their lead with a commanding 46 points, keeping Augusco at 42 and OWASS at 29.
