GNACOPS Clears Air on Nov 7th CPD Day: CPD Does Not Apply to Private Schools; No School Closure

The Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) has issued a crucial communiqué to all pre-tertiary private schools, clarifying the status of the upcoming National Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Day scheduled for Friday, November 7, 2025.

The National Teaching Council (NTC), in partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES), announced the National CPD Day focusing on Cybersecurity and Data Protection. This session is designated to count toward license renewal and annual CPD credit requirements for eligible teachers.

However, in an effort to ensure all private-school stakeholders are well-informed, GNACOPS—led by its National Executive Director, Obengfo Nana Kwasi Gyetuah, has issued the following specific clarifications:

• The National CPD Day scheduled for November 7, 2025, does not apply to private-school teachers.

• The previously scheduled private-school teachers' session will not take place on this date.

• A separate CPD programme tailored for private-school teachers is currently being prepared by the NTC and will be announced in a future correspondence.

• November 7, 2025, is not a holiday for private-school teachers, and normal school activities are expected to continue.

GNACOPS emphasized the importance of ongoing professional development and collaboration, urging all private-school managements and teachers to remain engaged with upcoming training opportunities.

"We appreciate your cooperation and encourage every teacher to stay engaged with upcoming training opportunities as we work together to strengthen our profession against known and emerging threats," stated the communiqué.
