The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued an
immediate release clarifying that newly promoted teachers do not need to submit
any documents to have their salaries adjusted to reflect their new ranks.
In a statement dated August 22, 2026, and signed by
Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, the Service said it had received
complaints from some newly promoted teachers who had been directed to submit
application letters, promotion letters, and other documents to process their
salary adjustments.
GES clarified that this is not standard procedure.
According to the statement, teachers promoted to new ranks are automatically
placed on the appropriate salary scale, and this existing practice has not
changed. As a result, teachers are being told to disregard any requests to
submit documents for this purpose.
The Service further noted that it is engaging the few regions and districts where such requests have reportedly been made, and called for calm among teachers while the matter is addressed.
Key Points
- Salary adjustments for promoted teachers happen automatically, no documents required.
- Teachers should ignore any directive asking for promotion letters or other paperwork for this purpose.
- GES is investigating the regions and districts where these requests reportedly originated.
- The statement was issued under reference GES/HQ/PR/26/155.
