Head of Public Relations of the GES warns schools against expelling students over inability to provide items in prospectus

Head of Public Relations Unit, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, has recently made a statement regarding the sacking of students from school due to their inability to provide certain items listed in the school prospectus. Twum Ampofo emphasizes that no student should ever be expelled from school for this reason.

The high cost of items listed in the prospectus for newly admitted SHS students has resulted in numerous complaints from parents. The cost of these items alone can range from GH1500 to GHC2000 in most senior high schools in Ghana. Some schools even instruct parents to purchase these items from the school, which many believe is an exploitation of the parents.

As a result of these grievances, several parents have taken to various media outlets to express their dissatisfaction. During an interview on Kessben Maakye with Akuoko Kwarteng, Cassandra Twum Ampofo issued a stern warning to schools that have been expelling students due to their inability to provide some of the items in the prospectus list. She emphasized that no student should be asked to leave school for this reason.
