Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to Conduct Nationwide Payroll Monitoring Exercise in 2023

The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) will be conducting a nationwide payroll monitoring exercise starting from April 1st, 2023, as part of its mandate to clean up the public sector payroll. This exercise will be done in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

FWSC, as the government agency authorized by the FWSC Act 2007 (Act 737) to develop and monitor allowances and benefits, as well as manage and monitor collective bargaining processes, aims to sanitize the public sector payroll by identifying and removing any fraud and anomalies, and ensuring that only approved salaries and allowances are paid.

Boards/Councils and Heads of Public Sector Institutions are urged to carry out their own internal payroll audit and clean-up ahead of the Commission's exercise. This audit should include basic salaries and all types of allowances and benefits.

Individuals and banks in receipt of fraudulent salaries and allowances are advised to refund the amount received and desist from further fraudulent practices to avoid facing the full force of the law.
