Management of GES Clarifies Rumours of Postponement as Ghana Basic Schools Re-Open

The Public Relations Officer, Kwasi Kwarteng, has announced that the 2023 academic calendar for KG/Primary and JHS schools remains in force. Any news of a postponement in their date of re-opening should be disregarded.

Kwarteng has made this clarification amidst rumours of a postponement in the re-opening of schools. It is essential to note that basic schools in Ghana have re-opened on the 3rd of April 2023, in line with the academic calendar.

  1. MoE and GES have not taken any good decision in this holiday issue at all. The best time to reopen is 11/04/23. This will enable both learners and teachers to have some breathing space. I visited 3 basic schools today 3/4/23. Below is the attendance :
    School 1: 200/1,019 pupils =20%
    School 2: 139/587 pupils =24%
    School 3: 143/618 pupils =23%
