Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) Sacks over 700 Students for Severe Offenses

In a recent development at the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI), 700 students have been sacked due to their involvement in severe offenses. The school management took decisive action after several incidents of misconduct, ranging from absenteeism to acts of theft and violence. This article explores the details of the offenses committed by the students and highlights the steps taken by the school to address the situation.

• Absence from School Gatherings:

One of the offenses committed by the students at KTI was their consistent absence from school gatherings while they remained in the dormitories. Attending school gatherings is a crucial part of academic life, and students are expected to actively participate. However, these students neglected this responsibility.

• Thievery:

Theft is a serious offense that undermines the trust and safety within a school community. Unfortunately, some students at KTI were involved in acts of thievery outside and inside the school’s jurisdiction.

• Unauthorized Trips to Town:

Another offense committed by the students was leaving the school premises without proper permission. Such unauthorized trips can disrupt the academic routine and pose potential risks to the students' safety. As a result, the school management considered this offense as a violation of the established rules and regulations.

• Destruction of Property:

The destructive behavior exhibited by some students involved the damaging of cars belonging to the institution or individuals within the school community. This form of vandalism not only incurs financial losses but also creates an atmosphere of unrest and insecurity within the campus. The destruction of property was seen as a grave offense, necessitating immediate intervention.

• Assault on Teachers:

In an alarming act of indiscipline, some students resorted to physically assaulting teachers who were part of the school discipline committee. This violent behavior not only disrespects the authority of the teachers but also compromises the overall well-being of the school community. Consequently, this offense prompted the school management to take swift and appropriate action.

Response and Measures Taken:

The seriousness of these offenses prompted the school management to sack 700 students involved. As a result, these students have been instructed to ho home. This measure aims to address the disciplinary issues while ensuring minimal disruption to their academic progress.

The decision to sack the students was reached after the headmaster conducted a roll call during an emergency assembly. The purpose of this roll call was to identify and address the extent of the disciplinary problems at KTI. By taking this action, the school management aims to uphold discipline, maintain a safe learning environment, and send a clear message that such misconduct will not be tolerated.
