In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 19-year-old Junior High School student, identified as Shadrach Addy, lost his life after drowning in the Densu River. The incident took place on Thursday, June 14, 2023, in Oparekrom, located in the Nsawam Adoagyiri municipality of the Eastern region. The young student's body was recovered the following day.

Eyewitnesses report that on the fateful day, Shadrach and his friends ventured to the Densu River for an unauthorized swimming session, without seeking permission from their teachers.
