The FWSC emphasized that these negotiations are a core part of its mandate and align with the government's broader public sector pay policy. The Commission stated that the structured consultative process is designed to ensure "equity, fairness, and sustainability" in public sector compensation.

The outcome of these initial talks is highly anticipated by millions of public sector employees across the country, as it will set the foundation for salary structures in the 2026 financial year.
The Commission has expressed its expectation for "cooperation and constructive contributions" from all sides as they work towards a consensus.
