The Management of the
Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially confirmed the 2025/2026 academic
calendar for Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools
(SHTS). In a statement released on January 2nd, 2026, the service emphasized
that the previously issued calendar remains unchanged and provided specific
provisions for students in transition schools.
Overview of Academic Schedules
The calendar is divided
into categories based on school tracking systems.
Single Track Schools
Forms 1 and 2: Students
reported on January 5th and will have a break from February 27th to May 3rd,
2026. The academic year concludes on August 21st, 2026.
Form 3: Students reported
on January 5th, with a brief break scheduled for late February to mid-March.
Their school year ends on June 21st, 2026.

initial reporting date of January 5th, these students will observe an Easter
Break from April 1st to April 8th, before finishing the year on June 21st,
2026.
Form 2: This group will
alternate between in-person reporting and online/off-campus learning throughout
the year, with the academic year ending on September 4th, 2026.
Form 1: The schedule for
Form 1 students includes multiple phases of online learning and vacations,
ultimately concluding their academic year on September 4th, 2026.
Support for Online and Off-Campus Learning
A significant portion of
the release focuses on the "off-campus" periods for students in
transition schools. The GES clarified that these periods are not vacations or
breaks but are mandatory parts of the teaching and learning process.
To support students
during these times, the Ministry of Education and GES have put the following
resources in place:
Free Digital Resources:
Students can access approved textbooks, tasks, and assignments for all subjects
and levels at curriculumresources.edu.gh for free.
Television Broadcasts:
Lessons will be broadcast live daily on the Ministry of Education TV (MoE TV),
available on Multi TV.
School-Based Learning
Management Systems (LMS): Schools with existing digital platforms are urged to
fully utilize them, with the promise of support from GES Management.
Call to Action for Stakeholders
The Head of Public
Relations for GES, Daniel Fenyi, urged all school heads, teachers, and parents
to take careful note of these arrangements. Parents and guardians are
specifically requested to supervise their children during off-campus periods to
ensure they fully participate in the mandatory digital learning engagements
