Ghana Education Service is the body responsible for the recruitment of pre-tertiary teachers to our basic schools and senior high schools
Sometime ago, the service used to release the postings of trained teachers even before they write their final examination.
However, this practice has changed and now trained teachers will have to apply through their online application portal.
Teachers that get recruited are the ones that write and pasa their national teaching council examination, complete the mandatory national service and pass all their college of education examinations.
But according to the Director General of education, this whole thing will not be needed as teachers will be recruited as and where there will be vacancies.
According to him, the Ghana Education Service is currently recruiting because there are many vacancies to fill out and when that is filled, the teachers will now be recruited when there’s vacancy in a school.
These vacancies will be available when teachers retire or leave the service.
The Director General also explained that the service is seeking for financial clearance to recruit graduates this year.
Professor Opoku-Amankwa has indicated that the service has also recruited some Educate Ghana trainees this year.
